McGrath's Paint and Hardware is a family owned and operated business founded in 1987 in the small New Jersey town of New Providence. Starting with just three employees and less than 2000 square feet of retail space, McGrath's Hardware quickly became identified as the place to buy Benjamin Moore Paints, home repair products, Scotts Lawn Care products and especially Weber and Ducane gas grills.
Having gone through seveal expansions, teh New Providence store now occupies 7500 square feet to accomodate a large Contractor and Commercial and homeowner business. In 1997 McGrath's Paint and Hardware opened their second store, a 5000 square foot facility located in Chatham Twp., New Jersey. Following their usual "old-fashioned customer service" policy, this store also became a success allowing them the opportunity to open their third and largest retail store, in 2000; a brand new 6200 sq. ft. store located in a new shopping center in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Twp., NJ., complete with loading docks, custom color computer matching, in-store Internet access for customers to use, and of course their famous Popcorn trolley.
McGrath's has become one of the largest do-it-yourself retailers in the state, specializing in Benjamin Moore Paints, Cabot’s stains, and selling Ducane and Weber gas grills and grill parts, both in-store and nationwide on their web site, www.mcgrathshardware.com. McGrath's Paint and Hardware today occupies over 18,000 square feet of retail space and has 15 full time employees.
Responsible for the success of McGrath's Paint and Hardware, is owner Tom McGrath, who can be found in the stores helping customers from mixing paint to cutting keys.
